The Intuitive Series by E.Y. Kelley
I received this series as ARCs, and I regret not having read them sooner. It took me getting a week and a half of vacation to tackle a lot of my TBR. This series though was one of my favorites and still is a favorite. As soon as I get paid I will be buying physical copies as shelf trophies. So, let's dive in.
The first book in this series is called "The Lies We Tell". In this book we start to meet a majority of our characters. The entire series so far is from Lexi's POV, so you're learning things and watching everything through her. So you definitely feel her frustration when EVERYONE keeps leaving important facts out or just not telling her period. A lot of problems could have been solved if people would just be clear with her from the get go - instead something happens - she tells someone, and they're like "Oh yeah, about that...". It took me a minute to get into this book because it does throw you right into the thick of things, but I got pulled in pretty quick and ended up reading all three books back to back. Which is good in the fact that I loved this series, but I can't write any details about each book because they all blur together. The only character I don't like is Kohl, he's a whiney bitch from the start. You try to like him in this book...but then he does the predictable thing and becomes the asshole they all warned her about.
In the second book, "The Truths We Hide", things start to get good. By that I mean Seb comes around more. I absolutely need a Seb in my life. It took reading these types of books for me to realize that I ABSOLUTELY have a type. Of course, Lexi attempts to resist his "charms"...and fails. It was a pretty Ggreat book until Douche Mcgee aka Kohl comes back, and Lexi takes him back. Not sure why, maybe the dick is just that good? I mean, the spicy scenes are indeed good with Kohl, but as a person - he is the definition of "ick". I think the worst part - he can't even do the one thing he is SUPPPOSED to do (protect Lexi). Anyways, as you can tell - I definitely have a least favorite character.
That aside, this book was not a happy ending, I cried. Ugly cried. Fortunately it was dark on the beach and I was alone. I made the mistake of immediately diving into the next one where I cried even more....
This book...it was a roller coaster that I couldn't put down. I don't know what I was more upset about, the beginning of the book or the fact it ended. I was happy there was a lot more Seb, where we really start to get to know him and love him (and wish he was real), on top of other fun facts that once again - were suspected but kept from Lexi. Not sure how she hasn't snapped when it seems like EVERYONE knows things before she figures them out. This book though damn near broke me, which takes a lot for me to say.
This whole series really... *chefs kiss*
I read a lot, I do mean A LOT. So for a series to get to me and wrap it's tendrils around my heart like an octopus with a crab...I can NOT talk about this series enough, and I don't know how it isn't more popular. I absolutely LOVE this series and I really, really can't wait to see where the author takes us next.
